Dundee school to bring 'Beauty and the Beast' to life

Dundee Middle School will present its spring musical "Beauty & the Beast Jr." at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, at Elgin Community College's Blizzard Theater, 1700 Spartan Drive.

The production boasts more than 130 student performers and some charming surprises.

Students will transform themselves on stage into enchanted objects and villagers with stunning costumes, spectacular sets, and incredible talent.

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

Dundee Middle School has a long history of fabulous productions involving hundreds of students and parents. Its partnership with ECC has fostered a genuine love of theater and the arts throughout the community. Tickets are on sale now at $12 or $10 for students or seniors.

For tickets, call the ECC box office at (847) 622-0300 or go online at tickets.elgin.edu.
