214@100: Improving the world, robot by robot

People create them to better the world. Robots. And they are built by none other than the high school students of the Wildstang Robotics Team. Wildstang (Wheeling WILDcats; Rolling Meadows MusTANGS) is a FIRST robotics team comprising students, teachers and parents from both high schools and supported by mentors from Motorola Inc. It uses background knowledge, help from mentors and tools to create a robot that competes at a highly challenging level. There are several sub-teams that contribute to the robot's success - mechanical, electrical, software/firmware, scouting, the playing field, animation, video, strategy and promotions. WildStang is an esteemed program that has won multiple awards, including Regionals in 2013 and the FTC World Championship in 2009 and 2011. Each student is enthusiastic about their work and proud of their accomplishments. "Everyone is so pumped about what they're doing. It is such a great place to be," Senior Nathan Walters said.
