Glenbard South freshman Carli drives in game-winning run

Freshman Mady Carli's 2-run single with two out in the bottom of the sixth inning helped Glenbard South to a 6-4 softball victory Thursday in Glen Ellyn.

The Raiders' Tricia Weigand went 2-for-3 and scored the winning run in the sixth inning.

Taylor Carli, Mady's senior sister, was the winning pitcher, running her record to 2-0 by giving up 2 earned runs and striking out 3 in a complete game.

Benet 12, South Elgin 9:

Senior Steph Abello went 2-for-2 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI, including the game-winning 3-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning. She also walked three times and scored four times.

Senior Emily York went 2-for-2 with 2 doubles and 2 walks plus 5 RBI for Benet. Junior pitcher Megan Stoppleman (1-0) struck out six and went the distance.

Naperville Central 3, Bolingbrook 0:

Senior pitcher Julie Kestas got the victory for the Redhawks, who scored 2 runs in the third inning and 1 in the sixth.
