The venue: Art Basel Hong Kong, which closed Tuesday. Asia's biggest art exhibition featured 233 art galleries from 37 countries and territories exhibiting thousands of paintings, sculptures and other kinds of art on sale.

The show began in 2008 as ART HK and was bought two years ago by the same group that runs the Art Basel and Art Basel Miami fairs. It's the biggest of a week of art-related events in Hong Kong that has attracted celebrities and billionaires from around the world, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Paris Hilton, Naomi Campbell, Victoria Beckham, Susan Sarandon and Alibaba founder Jack Ma. Insurer AXA Art estimated that $2.5 billion to $3 billion worth of art was on display at the fair, which organizers said was attended by nearly 60,000 people over five days.
