Tennessee, Pittsburgh agree to home-and-home football series
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee and Pittsburgh have agreed to play each other in 2021 and 2022.
The series will start with Tennessee hosting Pittsburgh on Sept. 11, 2021. Tennessee will visit Pittsburgh on Sept. 10, 2022, which will mark the first time the Volunteers have ever played in the state of Pennsylvania.
In the only two previous meetings between these two schools, Pittsburgh won 30-6 in 1980 and 13-3 in 1983.
The two programs share a link to College Football Hall of Famer Johnny Majors, who played for Tennessee and coached at both schools. Majors coached Pittsburgh to the 1976 national title.
