Champions of MEAC, SWAC to meet in new Celebration Bowl

ATLANTA (AP) - The champions of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and the Southwestern Athletic Conference will meet in the newly created Celebration Bowl on Dec. 19 at the Georgia Dome.

The new bowl will match representatives from two Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The game, announced on Wednesday, will be televised on an ESPN network.

According to Wednesday's announcement, the game will "to celebrate the legacy, values and traditions" of historically black colleges.

Teams from the MEAC and SWAC already meet in an annual regular season "Challenge" on Labor Day weekend.

The Georgia Dome, home of the NFL Falcons, also annually hosts the Southeastern Conference championship and the Peach Bowl.
