Indiana lawmaker won't resign after 'sexting' scandal

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indiana lawmaker says he doesn't plan to resign following allegations that he sent nude photos of himself to a woman involved in the 2013 scandal with a former New York congressman.

Democratic Rep. Justin Moed of Indianapolis appeared publicly at the Statehouse Monday for the first time since a website identified him last week as a "sexting" partner of a woman named Sydney Leathers from southwestern Indiana.

Leathers became known for sexting with former U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner in a scandal that cost him a bid for New York mayor.

Moed called the situation a "big lapse in personal judgment" and he plans to rebuild trust with his family and constituents. He's currently serving his second term in the Indiana House.
