Fort Wayne man charged in daughter's shooting death

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - A Fort Wayne man has been charged in the shooting death of his 5-year-old daughter following a monthlong police investigation.

Toney Keith White II was arrested Thursday and charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death, reckless homicide and using a firearm in the commission of a crime.

His daughter, Mya, was shot in the face Feb. 13 at the family's Fort Wayne home. Her death was ruled as a homicide.

Court records indicate White was unsafely handling guns while showing them to a friend prior to the shooting. They say White was loading and unloading them, playing with mechanisms and pulling the trigger to dry-fire unloaded guns.

A witness told police White was holding the gun went it went off.

Online court documents don't list an attorney for White.
