Dist. 214 students present Live 8 Concert, raise funds for autism

High School District 214 students will unite and play music on Friday, March 13, at the Forest View Educational Center to raise money for autism.

The annual Live 8 Concert, now in its sixth year, brings together 16 student musicians and bands, as well as student leaders from the District's schools.

Behind the scenes, students are doing nearly all of the work for the show, from running lights to designing the posters and tickets and setting the stage.

"I think a lot of people don't realize what talent we have in this district," said Nathan Walters, the concert's director and a senior at Rolling Meadows High School. "They should come and appreciate that. It's going to be a great show."

Puzzle pieces, a symbol that represents autism, will be sold at Rolling Meadows High School and at the concert. Proceeds from tickets, puzzle pieces and T-shirts will be donated to the Autism Society of Illinois.

The acts will perform a variety of musical genres, including alternative, a cappella, heavy metal, ska and pop.

Tickets cost $5. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Forest View Educational Center Theater, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights.
