Illinois Jaycees Name 2015 Outstanding Young People of Illinois Honorees

The Illinois Jaycees is proud to formally announce The Outstanding Young People of Illinois class of 2015:

Jason Asaad, Catlin, IL for Personal improvement and/or accomplishment

Jason L. Coleman, Chicago, IL for Academic leadership and/or accomplishment

Collin Corbett, Palatine, IL for Political, legal, and/or governmental affairs

Dr. Maya Green MD, MPH, Chicago, IL for Humanitarian and/or voluntary leadership

Lindsay E. Macon, Carlyle, IL for Political, legal, and/or governmental affairs and Personal improvement and accomplishment

Andrea S. Meyer, Manteno, IL for Humanitarian and/or voluntary leadership

Katie M. Mense, Mascoutah, IL for Academic Leadership and/or accomplishment

Chad Pedigo, Naperville, IL for Humanitarian and/or voluntary leadership

The Outstanding Young Person (TOYP) program annually recognizes young people throughout Illinois who excel in their chosen fields, endeavors and show a great commitment to their respective communities. "The Illinois Jaycees is proud to have been a part of encouraging and honoring young people to continue the bettering of their communities in many different ways for the last fifty years," said Tricia Buenhe, 84th President of the Illinois Jaycees.

The Illinois Jaycees will honor these young people on May 2nd at an awards banquet at the Springfield Hilton. The program will include a video highlighting the honoree's accomplishment, plaque presentation and opportunity for each honoree to address the audience. Banquet tickets can be purchased for $40 at www.iljaycees.org/toyp

Past award recipients have come from many backgrounds including business, education, community organizations and military or government service but each has made an impact in their communities. Past winners during the fifty year program have included Northwestern University Head Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald, Chicago Bears Devin Hester and Chris Zorich, University of Illinois Head Basketball Coach Bill Self, Illinois Representative Jehan Gordon-Booth, U.S. Congressman Adam Kinzinger, WNBA player Ruth Riley, and hundreds of other accomplished people in the fields of social services, academic, religious and volunteer leadership, business and personal accomplishments.

The event is generously supported by friends and employers of our award winners, local Jaycee organizations, Illinois businesses and the Illinois Jaycees Charitable Foundation. Leadership development through community involvement has been the basis of the Jaycees since its inception in 1920. The goal of the not-for-profit organization is to provide members a means to reach their full potential through networking and personal growth opportunities and is ideal for proactive young people, ages 18 to 40.
