Garcia, Bacsinszky reach Monterrey Open final
MONTERREY, Mexico (AP) - Third-seeded Caroline Garcia of France beat top-seeded defending champion Ana Ivanovic of Serbia 6-1, 6-4 on Saturday night in the Monterrey Open semifinals.
Garcia set up a rematch Sunday against fourth-seeded Timea Bacsinszky, the Swiss player who beat her last week in Acapulco in the Mexico Open final.
Bacsinszky outlasted second-seeded Sara Errani of Italy 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 (3) in the first semifinal in the hard-court event at Club Sonoma.
Bacsinszky topped Garcia 6-3, 6-0 in Acapulco for her second WTA Tour title.
