Illinois Tollway warns of email phishing scam

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - Illinois Tollway officials say no customer accounts were compromised in a recent scam involving fake emails.

They are warning the email phishing scheme claims money is owed for missed bills.

Officials say I-PASS users should delete emails with the titles "Indebted for driving on toll road" or "Payment for driving on toll road." The emails also have "E-ZPass" logos.

The E-ZPass Group is an association of 25 toll agencies that operate collection programs in 15 states, including Illinois.

Customers are advised to contact the Illinois Tollway if they have further questions.

The Tollway maintains 286 miles of interstate roads in 12 northern Illinois counties. For complaints, visit http://www.ic3.gov
