Northeastern Indiana man gets 40 years for woman's slaying
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A northeastern Indiana man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty in the slaying of an Indianapolis woman.
WRTV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1NqKoyl ) 48-year-old Jimmie Monday was sentenced this week in Marion County after pleading guilty to murder in last year's killing of Barbara McPheter.
The 48-year-old woman's body was found in July in an Indianapolis apartment.
Monday was arrested shortly after her killing in Steuben County in northeastern Indiana. Authorities say he confessed to killing McPheter.
