Elk Grove school welcomes visitors from Japan

Elk Grove High School will welcome 14 visitors from its Japanese sister schools, Ashikodai High School and Ashitandai High School, Friday, March 6, through Friday, March 20, as part of the 27th annual Japanese Exchange Program.

Twelve students and two faculty will spend two weeks experiencing American life with their host families and interacting with Elk Grove students, including those studying Japanese as a world language. Eighteen Elk Grove and Northwest Suburban High School District 214 families have volunteered to host the visitors.

"I have exchanged e-mails with my guest a half a dozen times and in every e-mail I can sense her excitement to see America for the first time," said math teacher Beata Yormark, who is hosting a chaperone. "For this reason, I feel a tremendous amount of responsibility to be the best host I can be and show her as much of our amazing country as I can in the short period of time we have together."
