Illinois' Adams County sees meth lab seizures drop

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say they seized fewer methamphetamine labs last year in western Illinois' Adams County, but they say the form of the drug known as ice is still a serious problem.

Patrick Frazier is an Illinois State Police master sergeant. He tells The Quincy Herald-Whig (http://bit.ly/1DKhKCH ) that seeing the number of meth lab seizures drop is gratifying.

State Police numbers show a 51 percent drop in Adams County seizures last year, from 72 to 35. In all, 760 were seized around the state in 2014.

Adams is one of the state's top counties for meth lab seizures and has been for several years.

Frazier said authorities started seeing more ice in circulation beginning last summer. He adds the drug is widely available in the area.
