What changes, if any, do you think need to be made?As a parent of incoming students I feel we are underperforming. By attending school board meetings, the current administration and the school board are looking at improving technology. Through the use of new technology as well as a new class schedule I feel this will help improve scores. I will work with current school board and administration to keep improving in every area of the school. What budgetary issues will your district have to confront during the next four years and what measures do you support to address them? If you believe cuts are necessary, be specific about programs and expenses that should be considered for reduction or elimination. On the income side, do you support any tax increases for local schools? Again, be specific. The current school board and administration have done a phenomenal job of moving from a major deficit to operating in the black, while improving technology without cutting programs, curriculum or staff. Are you currently employed by or retired from a school district, if so, which one? Is any member of your direct family - spouse, child or child-in-law - employed by the school district where you are seeking a school board seat?NoAs contract talks come up with various school employee groups -- teachers, support staff, etc. -- what posture should the school board take? Do you believe the district should ask for concessions from its employees, expect employee costs to stay about the same as they are now or provide increases in pay or benefits? We need to negotiate a contract that is fair, between the taxpayers, teachers and the schools as a whole. I think we should tie teachers, administration and staff to the cost of living increases. 6% annual increases are a thing of the past.If your district had a superintendent or other administrator nearing retirement, would you support a substantial increase in his or her pay to help boost pension benefits? Why or why not?No! I appreciate the work and effort put in, but feel they are currently well compensated for it. I see no need to spend additional money that is not necessary. There is no reason to further stress the Illinois Pension Fund. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I appreciate the previous boards attention to fiscal responsibility and as a candidate I am going to do so as well. I promise to keep a balanced budget and continue on improving programs. The previous board has been successful in doing so. As a candidate I am a McHenry Taxpayer for fiscal responsibility.
