In the early days when we first moved here, I volunteered to work in the public works department and always had an interest in contributing to the communities improvement. Now that my husband and I are "empty nesters" I have the time to commit to this interest. I was honored to have been chosen by Mayor Soto to fill the vacancy left by Trustee Gary Walkington's retirement this past November and believe that my job skills as an accounting clerk are a good fit as a Trustee. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain. The village is currently fiscally very sound and I do not believe any tax increases are necessary at this time.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?I think the Village of Grayslake and Hainesville police department is an excellent financial and public safety partnership. We receive excellent police and fire services from excellent police and fire departments.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?As mentioned earlier, the Village of Hainesville is very fiscally sound at this time. We are currently looking into upcoming street repair projects and how best to finance them. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?At this time I really don't see any big pressing issues that aren't already being studied and addressed. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I am very fiscally conservative and believe very strongly in wise use of village monies and keeping taxes as low as possible. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.I really don't have one...What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Financial responsibility and personal accountability. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I wouldn't, life is what you make it and I wouldn't change a thing. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?I enjoyed business classes which prepared me for who I am today. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Life is what you make it, find a way to be happy, laugh as much as possible and be financially responsible it makes life easier.
