As such, I may be able to bring new ideas to the challenges facing the Board, rather than just following the status quo. In my previous work experience I was sought after as a problem solver being able to bring multiple concepts together to create a unique solution to the problem at hand. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I feel the Sales Taxes in East Dundee are too high and could stand to be lowered at least 1/2 of a percent, although they are currently the same as the surrounding municipalities and from that perspective one might consider them to be just right. The Sales Tax, though includes the State Sales tax which I feel at 6-1/4% is much too high. I feel the property taxes are too high especially as our homes are devalued and our property taxes continue to rise. This is especially burdensome on our seniors with fixed incomes and distressed younger families that may have their primary wage earner unemployed.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?I am not in a position to assess the current efficiency or preparedness of the Police Department for the next decade. Also, the Fire Department is actually a District from whom the Village contracts fire services. From a fire coverage standpoint it appears the Fire District is well prepared having just moved into a more centralized location for their fire station.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?No response. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?To protect our residents from fires in their homes and to assure their safe passage out of a burning home I would like to see an amendment to the Building Code that mandates Residential Fire Sprinklers in all new single-family homes in the Village. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I currently do not know if this is an issue, I feel that there are way too many Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) Districts in the Village of East Dundee. If elected I will vote to stop any future TIF Districts from being developed in the town. I also feel strongly that the two current Red Light cameras in the Village should be eliminated and no new Red Light Cameras added. Please name one current leader who most inspires you. There is no one leader that inspires me.What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?That a loving family is preciousIf life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Nothing. I would not change a thing about my life. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life? There was no one subject that I felt was my favorite. All subjects in their own way helped form the person I am today. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?I have no children.
