Emanuel, Garcia greet Chicago residents at 'L' stops
CHICAGO (AP) - Mayor Rahm Emanuel and his opponent in an April 7 runoff election have been greeting Chicago residents at "L'' stations.
Emanuel failed in Tuesday's voting to win the majority needed to avoid a runoff against second-place finisher Cook County Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia.
Holding a coffee, Emanuel shook hands with CTA passengers as they came down an escalator at the 95th and Dan Ryan Red Line stop.
Garcia was in the Loop Wednesday morning talking with Brown Line passengers at the Merchandise Mart stop. He shook hands, gave a thumbs-up and handed out campaign buttons, even tossing one through closing train doors to one CTA rider.
In remarks to reporters, Garcia said he was proud of his campaign, which he said "reached out to every part of the city."
