93-year-old Springfield woman dies in apartment fire

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Sangamon County coroner says a 93-year-old Springfield woman has died in an apartment fire.

Coroner Cindy Edwards says Olive I. Cundiff was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Medical Center after the blaze in a fifth floor unit at Sangamon Towers. Three other residents suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The State Journal-Register reports (http://bit.ly/17xVgto ) that Springfield Fire Chief Ken Fustin said Cundiff lived alone in the apartment where the fire started. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
