Oakton Community College upgrading 30-year-old locker rooms
Oakton Community College in Des Plaines will renovate its men's and women's locker rooms, which haven't been updated since they were built in 1985. Officials say the slab floors of both locker rooms have cracked and settled, which has led to some of the shower areas being unusable. The floors and plumbing fixtures will be demolished and replaced with new. Upgraded lighting, ceilings, toilet room partitions and fresh paint will be added. Elmhurst-based F.B.G. Corp. will do the work for $493,978, and a hazardous materials test by Terracon Consultants will cost $2,365. Contingencies and architectural services put the total project budget at $900,000. Work is slated to begin in early March and be complete by mid-July.
