Bowling event to benefit Geneva schools

The Geneva Academic Foundation invites the community to attend its third annual "Bowl Us Over" event on Saturday, March 7, at Bowling Green Bowling Alley in West Chicago.

The event includes a silent auction and three games of bowling. All proceeds will benefit the Geneva Academic Foundation and the students of Geneva Unit District 304.

The silent auction begins at 8 p.m. and bowling begins at 9:30 p.m. Bowling Green is at 243 W. Roosevelt Road in West Chicago. More information and registration is available at www.gafgeneva.org. You also can contact Brad Kosirog at (630) 297-3548 or 304gaf@gmail.com.

Those interested in attending may sign up a complete team of six people or as individuals. The event costs $25 per person and includes three games of bowling, shoes and appetizers. There will be a cash bar, 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. Attendees are encouraged to wear creative bowling outfits or create a theme for their team. Prizes will be awarded for the highest scoring team and for the individual or team with the best outfits.

This event has raised more than $12,000 for the GAF annual fund. The annual fund is used to fund grants for Geneva classrooms and scholarships for graduating Geneva High School students.

The three games of bowling will include two games of Scotch Doubles, an easy, fun and fast way to keep the games moving. More information about Scotch Doubles is available on the website, www.gafgeneva.org. The third game will be "Wacky Bowl."

Brad Kosirog, foundation president said, "Last year was a huge success. We filled the entire bowling alley. There were a lot of fun costumes and everyone had a blast. We are adding some fun features this year including 'cosmic bowling' toward the end of the night. We are looking forward to another successful event this year."

The Geneva Academic Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1987 by a group of parents to fund grants to teachers, schools or organizations. The grants must enhance the educational experience of students in the Geneva Unit District 304. In addition, the foundation awards two $1,000 college scholarships to Geneva High School seniors.
