Indiana University South Bend looking into facility upgrades

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Indiana University South Bend is focusing on the available space on campus as it creates an updated facilities plan.

Chancellor Terry Allison tells the South Bend Tribune (http://bit.ly/1CTfQ2g ) renovating the first floor of the administration building, creating a health and wellness center and relocating fine arts programs are among the school's top priorities.

The university purchased a former night club last year for more than $1.3 million. Allison says plans for the site are still unclear because the school needs to repair damage caused by a broken pipe.

She says a former commercial building will house the art education programs after receiving a $60,000 renovation.

School officials are considering placing the health and wellness center in a vacant building.

Other projects likely will have to wait until the school secures more funding.
