New Elk Grove park director gets four-year contract

Incoming Elk Grove park director Tom Busby will be paid a base salary of $134,860 during the first year of his contract.

The deal, approved unanimously last week by the park board, allows for an extension of three years beginning Feb. 27, 2016. Busby would be paid $138,230, $141,680, and $145,230 in the respective years. He is also entitled to 25 vacation days, starting Jan 1, 2016.

Busby, currently the district's director of business services, was selected over 15 other candidates. On Feb. 27, he will succeed Mike Brottman, who is stepping down after 10 years to pursue "private ventures."
