Mayor Emanuel admits his style can irk people
CHICAGO (AP) - Mayor Rahm Emanuel says one of the biggest mistakes was pushing to name a North Side high school after President Barack Obama without community input.
The Democrat seeks a second term in the Feb. 24 election and says his forceful approach can irk people.
He told the Chicago Sun-Times (http://bit.ly/1v0S6sX ) for a Sunday story that he became his own worst enemy with the high school. The former White House chief of staff proposed plans last year to name a North Side college preparatory school after Obama. But some aldermen objected because Obama has a home and launched his political career on the South Side.
Four candidates are hoping to unseat Emanuel or at least force a runoff election, which could happen if Emanuel doesn't get 50 percent plus one vote.
