Averaged out, tax increases not so bad

Gov. Rauner invited Christine Dogolpol to the state capital to address her Wheeling real estate taxes, which apparently increased from $1,100 annually to $4,707 per year (1978 to 2004).

If my math is correct, that's a $3,607 increase in 35 years! That averages at a little over $100 per year. Sounds like a reasonable increase for the period of time involved and the inflation rate.

My taxes for 22 years on my property increased an average of $200 per year. Plus now, I get a senior citizen discount thanks to ex-Gov. Quinn's signing the Senior Homestead Exemption legislation.

Why the "beef"?
