Police: Man arrested with 350 pounds of pot in Hampshire

HAMPSHIRE, Ill. (AP) - Kane County authorities say a North Carolina man was arrested in Hampshire with over 350 pounds of marijuana worth more than $3 million.

According to a press release, 36-year-old Levi Blalock is charged with cannabis trafficking, unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.

Members of the Kane County Sheriff's Office were patrolling the parking lot of a Hampshire motel Thursday morning when they began speaking with Blalock. The press release states Blalock gave deputies conflicting stories about what he was doing in the area.

Authorities says a drug-sniffing dog was brought in and detected drugs inside of the Blalock's vehicle. The sheriff's office says 15 large garbage bags containing about 354 pounds of marijuana were found in the bed of his pickup truck.
