Sky signs veteran forward Young to multiyear deal

Forward Tamera Young has signed a multiyear contract to remain with the Chicago Sky, team officials announced Wednesday.

In 2014, Young appeared in all 34 of the Sky's regular-season games, averaging 7.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Tamera's blue-collar mentality, and ability to disrupt at multiple positions on the defensive end of the floor, creates opportunities vital to our success," said Sky head coach and GM Pokey Chatman.

Acquired by the Sky from the Atlanta Dream in exchange for Armintie Price in 2009, Young has spent six seasons with the Sky. The 6-foot-2 forward is currently playing for Sport Recife in Brazil, where she is averaging 15.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 steals.
