Authorities: Chicago man stabbed girlfriend with steak knife

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - Authorities say a 26-year-old Chicago man stabbed his girlfriend with a steak knife 34 times in Quincy.

Police say Tracy M. Malone's girlfriend was found early Monday at her home with non-life-threatening stab wounds. According to police, officers had been called to her home late Sunday night and arrested Malone on an outstanding warrant. Authorities say he posted bond and returned to his girlfriend's home.

The Adams County state's attorney says the woman underwent surgery Monday.

The Quincy Herald-Whig (http://bit.ly/1zMAFwl )reports a judge set Malone's bond at $1 million at an initial appearance Tuesday. He was assigned an attorney from the public defender's office, which could not be reached by phone Wednesday.
