Inaugural Harry Potter Book Night casts magical spell

The Arlington Heights Memorial Library joined with other libraries, schools and community groups around the world on Thursday, Feb. 5 to host the first ever Harry Potter Book Night. More than 200 people turned out in Arlington Heights to celebrate J.K. Rowling's unforgettable stories and to enjoy an evening of fun fit for a wizard. Wearing costumes and signature Harry Potter styles, participants soaked in the magic as they rolled up their sleeves for Hogwarts-themed activities in the Marketplace, the Hub and in Kids' World including a potions class, owl examinations and the opportunity to don the sorting hat. Awards were given for best costumes and both wizards and muggles alike enjoyed Harry Potter-inspired treats.
