PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - Police in Peoria are asking for the public for any information in the shooting death of a 12-year-old boy.

Peoria police made the plea Monday in last week's death of Demarcus Payne. Police have asked for the public's help several times and set up a mobile command post. However the Journal Star reports (http://bit.ly/1Cdr6WY ) witnesses have been slow to come forward and detective haven't received any tips that could lead to an arrest.

Peoria police say they don't know if the boy was the intended target of gunfire or if he stumbled into danger.
