Armed robbers hit Des Plaines gas station
Two men, one armed with a handgun, robbed a Des Plaines gas station of more than $1,300 in cash and merchandise early Friday morning, police said.
According to police, the men entered the business at 680 N. Wolf Road at 5:38 a.m. Friday and displayed a black semiautomatic handgun. They stole cash, merchandise and an employee's cellphone, together valued at $1,325, before leaving the business and heading southbound.
The victim recognized one of the robbers as a previous customer, police said.
The first robber was described as a black man between 18 and 25 years old, standing between 5'11" and 6'2" and weighing 225 to 250 pounds. He has brown eyes and a large build, police said.
The second robber was described as a black man between 18 and 25 years old, standing between 5'7" and 5'9" and weighing 140 to 170 pounds. He has brown eyes and a medium build, according to police.
