Rauner mum on Illinois Senate minimum wage bill
MOLINE, Ill. (AP) - Gov. Bruce Rauner (ROW'-nur) won't say whether he would sign a minimum wage bill that cleared the Illinois Senate.
The (Moline) Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1C5m9wE ) reports the Winnetka Republican was asked during a stop whether he would sign the bill if it passed the Illinois House.
Rauner says "will get the minimum wage raised" but that it has to be tied with job creation and other pro-business reforms.
He has proposed boosting the wage to $10 over seven years.
The bill would bump the minimum wage to $9 per hour on July 1 that would rise in annual increments before hitting $11 in 2019. It also includes a tax credit for companies that employ fewer than 50 workers.
It moves to the House, where passage there seems less certain.
