Autopsy shows 77-year-old woman died of blunt force trauma

RENNSELAER, Ind. (AP) - Police in northwest Indiana say they are investigating the death of a 77-year-old woman as a homicide after an autopsy showed she died of blunt force trauma.

The Journal & Courier reports (http://on.jconline.com/1zJp6EP ) police in Rennselaer, 40 miles north of Lafayette, say they believe say someone entered the apartment of Trula Alliss between noon Tuesday and 5 p.m. Thursday and caused her death.

Police say they are waiting on the return of lab and pathology results to confirm an assault.

Rennselaer Police and Jasper County Sheriff's Police have increased patrols nearby.
