Authorities: Boy dies, brother injured following house fire

DETROIT (AP) - Authorities say a 12-year-old boy has died and his 17-year-old brother was injured in a house fire on Detroit's east side.

WWJ-AM and The Detroit News report crews responded early Friday and the boys were pulled from the burning home by rescuers.

The Detroit Fire Department identifies the boy who died as Quartez Burrell. The Detroit Free Press reports his older brother had smoke inhalation and third-degree burns.

The boys' parents reportedly made it out of the home and told firefighters that their children were still inside. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
