Verge scores 34 in Willowbrook win

The Warriors (18-6, 6-3) won for the 12th straight time thanks to a game-winning runner by sophomore guard Alonzo Verge Jr., who scored a game-high 34 points, including all 10 of the Warriors' first-quarter points in Villa Park.

Willowbrook, which pulled within a half game of Morton (11-9, 6-2) atop the West Suburban Gold standings, has won 18 games for the first time since 1974.

Jake Bruns scored 20 points for the Warriors while Kevin Miller added 11 points.

Justin Pierce, off an assist from Aidan Gould, knocked down a game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Hilltoppers (9-11, 4-4) a thrilling West Suburban Silver road victory over Downers North (12-8, 2-7).
