DETROIT (AP) - Bitterly cold temperatures have settled in across Michigan after several days of snow.
The National Weather Service says it was 20 degrees below zero on Thursday morning in Grayling and 15 below in Cadillac. It was 7 degrees in Detroit, 3 in Grand Rapids and 2 in Lansing. Roads are slippery.
On Thursday morning, a school bus got stuck in a ditch in Genesee County's Thetford Township. WNEM-TV reports children were transferred to another bus.
The Detroit Public Schools district was reopening Thursday after canceling classes for three days.
Traffic crashes claimed at least five lives on Tuesday and Wednesday. A storm Sunday and Monday gave the Detroit area up to 16.7 inches- the most since 19.3 inches fell in December 1974 and the third biggest snowfall on record.
