Auburn trustees to consider new scoreboard for Jordan-Hare

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn could have a huge new scoreboard at Jordan-Hare Stadium by next season.

University trustees are expected to consider a proposal for a $13.9 million, 200-foot wide scoreboard for the South end zone at a meeting on Friday.

If approved, Auburn would have the new scoreboard in place by August.

Athletic director Jay Jacobs told al.com that it would be college football's biggest video board, measuring from 55 to 57 feet tall.

Auburn is also studying other improvements to the 87,451-seat stadium, including amenities for fans, athletes and recruits and additional premium seats.

The athletic department expects to complete a feasibility study this spring and is seeking trustees' approval to engage an architect and construction manager for the project. The trustees' agenda posted online didn't include a projected cost.
