Palatine police arrest 20-year-old, two teens in car burglaries

Police say they arrested a 20-year-old Palatine man and two juveniles from Chicago late Sunday night on charges they burglarized parked cars in Palatine and Rolling Meadows.

According to a release from the Palatine Police Department, a resident called 911 when she saw three young men looking into car windows and pulling on door handles in a parking lot at the Willow Creek Condos on the 900 block of East Wilmette Road.

Officers arrived on the scene at about midnight and spotted the three young men. Police said the three fled on foot but were found them in a different part of the parking lot.

According to police, Pablo Sobles - who lives at the Willow Creek Condos - had a backpack containing items taken from two vehicles, including a GPS unit, cellphone chargers and a few dollars in loose change. Police say Sobles admitted that he was acting as a "lookout" for the two juveniles as they entered unlocked parked cars. Officers determined the three had also burglarized vehicles in Rolling Meadows earlier that night, police said.

The two juveniles will be petitioned into juvenile court and have been released to their parents.

Sobles was charged with two counts of burglary of a vehicle. He appeared in court Monday, when his bond was set at $10,000
