Murder charge for woman in husband killing, girl's wounding

DETROIT (AP) - Prosecutors say they've charged a 38-year-old Detroit woman with premeditated murder and attempted murder for fatally shooting her husband and wounding her 8-year-old daughter.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office says Jacqueline Lewis also is charged with felonious assault for aiming a gun at her 11-year-old son. It says she faced arraignment Wednesday in Detroit District Court.

Court documents didn't list an attorney for Lewis on Wednesday.

Authorities say she killed husband Cornell Lewis and wounded her daughter Monday afternoon following an argument in the family's northwest Detroit home. The girl remains hospitalized.

Premeditated murder is a form of first-degree murder and carries a mandatory penalty of life in prison without possibility of parole.
