Man accused of sexually assaulting sleeping Iowa woman
DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - A Wisconsin man has been accused of sexually assaulting a Dubuque woman while she was asleep.
The Telegraph Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1zNtAMe ) 19-year-old Patrick J. Hanley, of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, was arrested Tuesday and charged with third-degree sexual abuse. His bail was set at $30,000.
According to a criminal complaint, the woman told police Hanley arrived at her Dubuque home uninvited Jan. 5 after she had fallen asleep. She said he assaulted her as she slept.
The complaint says police listened in on a later phone call between Hanley and the woman, during which he said he sexually assaulted her while she was asleep, but that he thought she consented. He said he should have left when he found her sleeping.
An attorney for Hanley could not be reached Wednesday.
