Palatine Jaycees name new board members

The Palatine Jaycees turned over the reins of the organization to its new board of directors for the 2015 fiscal year at the annual January Awards and Installation Banquet at the Falcon Park Recreation Center, in Palatine.

The new executive officers for the chapter are Traci Hinshaw, president; Karin Weizel, administrative vice president; Becky Swiontek, chapter management vice president; Pat De Marco, community development vice president; Cathy Veller, membership development vice president; Jennifer Hickman, individual development vice president; Barbara Cima, treasurer; Katy Ramirez, secretary and Will Hinshaw, chairman of the board.

There are also three local directors. The local directors act as liaisons between the board of directors and the general membership. They are also responsible for notifying the membership of activities within the chapter. The local directors for 2015 are Amy Muscarello, Robin Yactor and Curtis Pettinger.

"My team and I are excited by the growth in size of the chapter and the new projects that we will be launching in 2015," said Hinshaw, Palatine Jaycee president. "The Palatine Jaycees have always been involved in our community with projects like our Fourth of July Celebration and Christmas tree sale. All of the profits from our projects are donated back into the community in the form of donations, scholarships and grants. With the new members that are joining and their contributions to the chapter, look for more Jaycee projects and donations in the Palatine area."

The Palatine Chapter of the Jaycees, one of the nearly 60 local chapters throughout Illinois, has nearly 100 members and is one of the largest chapters in Illinois. The Jaycees provide individuals between the ages of 21 and 40 the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their community. In Palatine, the Jaycees conduct approximately 50 to 60 projects per year. including Christmas tree sales, a local art fair and the Fourth of July celebration.

The Palatine Chapter holds its monthly general meeting at 7:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at the American Legion Hall on Palatine Road in Palatine.
