North Aurora man sent to prison for child porn

A 28-year-old man was sentenced to four years in prison after admitting to possessing child pornography.

Harry I. Joslin, of the 100 block of Lilac Lane, North Aurora, pleaded guilty Friday to reduced charges and must register as a sex offender after his release, according to Kane County court records.

He was arrested in May 2014 after an investigation by the Illinois attorney general office's high-tech crimes bureau.

Joslin also must pay $2,942 in fines and fees.

He was initially charged with reproduction of child pornography, a crime that carries a six- to 30-year prison term upon conviction, and 10 counts of child pornography possession.

In the plea agreement, which was approved by Judge James Hallock, prosecutors dismissed the most serious charge against Joslin. He was eligible for three to seven years in prison on the reduced charge.

Joslin had been held at the Kane County jail on $35,000 bail since his arrest and gets more than 250 days credit toward his sentence.

He also is eligible to have his prison sentenced cut in half for good behavior.
