Mickey Finn's Brewery 'Finally' Turns 21 And Is Having A Party'; February 9-13 Event Features Prizes For Diners, Bar Patrons With Live WSCR Remote Capping Celebration Of New Location, Longevity

LIBERTYVILLE - Too busy to celebrate nine months ago with an official grand opening of its new Libertyville location a block south of the old one, Mickey Finn's Brewery is combining that delayed, yet momentous occasion with a 21st anniversary event February 9-13.

"Finn's 'Finally' Turns 21 and is Having a Party" will give back to its loyal customers who have supported the oldest, newest, and largest microbrewery in Lake County now housed in the completely renovated 345 N. Milwaukee Avenue building.

Each night, Mickey Finn's Brewery will award free dinners and other prizes to diners while bar patrons are eligible to win a free pub crawl with Brian Grano, brewpub owner.

On Friday, February 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Mickey Finn's Brewery hosts WSCR'S (670 The Score) live radio broadcast of Boers & Bernstein (Terry Boers and Dan Bernstein).

Mickey Finn's Brewery moved into the larger quarters last April with a red hot start prompting Grano to close on Mondays for a "day of rest."

"Our loyal customers turned out from day one loving the openness, exposed brick walls and historic wood ceilings," said Grano. "The new, urban/industrial designed restaurant, features a solid oak custom built 60-foot bar featuring 26 tap handles; and eight 70" LED TV's We've also built brand new stage and sound system actually in the restaurant for everyone to enjoy.

"We now offer live music in the bar and restaurant every Friday and Saturday for no charge. We've also added a 65-seat beer garden with huge fire pit; an expanded beautiful banquet facility; same brewpub food favorites; and, of course, our award winning craft beer," he said.

Grano, who has owned the brewpub for 11 years, continues to serve such brewpub favorites as the Mickey Burger, Pat E. Melt, Reuben, and brisket sandwiches; natural gas-fired pizza; and Finn's signature hot wings. New to the menu are gluten-free pizza, gluten-free Organic beef burgers, and gluten-free chicken tenders, as well as Finn's Cobb salad and blackened chicken salad, and brisket chili.

The menu is complemented by Mickey Finn's Brewery's award winning, hand-crafted ales and lagers, including a full array of its Amber Wheat, Stout, IPA, and multiple Seasonals. Its most popular creation, Santa's Magic, comes out the day after every Thanksgiving.

The brewpub's massive remodeling of the existing 15,000 square foot office building includes a main dining room with seating for 175, banquet facility serving up to 250 guests, kitchen double the size of the old one boasting state-of-the-art equipment, beer garden, all-you-can-eat Friday fry free weekend entertainment, bigger capacity brewery. There is much more parking available at the new location.

Having a dramatic impact is its much needed banquet facility filling an obvious void in Lake County. Bookings for weddings, rehearsal dinners, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, private parties, sales training meetings, and fund raisers are up significantly from a year ago in the previous building, said Grano. The banquet room, which includes a view of the brewery, can be partitioned for parties of 150 or 25 people.

In addition, Mickey Finn's Brewery's new, larger brewing facility, run by veteran brew master Greg Browne, will produce 25 percent more of its own, award-winning ales and lagers which previously outputted 2,000 kegs a year ago.

Long regarded as the anchor of downtown Libertyville as well as the epicenter of Lake County, Mickey Finn's Brewery has received accolades and many awards for its beer and food offerings.

Most recently, Mickey Finn's Brewery was the only suburban Chicago brewpub and one of four in the entire Chicago area to be honored in Zagat's 2014 edition of "Between The Bun - Must Try Burgers Across The Country." In addition, Mickey Finn's Brewery's was voted "Best Burger, Best Microbrewery, and Best Beer Garden in "Northburbia."

The new Mickey Finn's Brewery features free musical entertainment every Saturday night in the main dining room.

Mickey Finn's Brewery, whose motto is "Life, Libertyville, And The Pursuit Of Happiness," is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 a.m., and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The brewpub is closed on Mondays.
