Nebraska, Iowa expecting snow Saturday, into Sunday

A winter storm raking the Midwest this weekend is expected to dump up to 6 inches of snow on parts of eastern Nebraska and up to 10 inches in parts of southern Iowa.

A snow and rain mix had begun falling in Nebraska by Saturday morning. But the National Weather Service says the mixture will give way to snow later in the day. By nightfall, the service says, north winds will see temperatures drop, and snow begin to accumulate. Between 3 and 6 inches of snow is predicted for the Omaha area by Sunday morning.

In Iowa, the storm is expected to drop between 5 to 10 inches of snow across the state, with higher totals further south.

Blowing snow is also expected to cut visibility and affect travel.
