'Princess Bride' actor tells behind-the-scene story of film

On Valentine's Day, actor-turned-author Cary Elwes, known for "The Princess Bride" and other movie roles, comes to Naperville to share his new title, "As You Wish."

At this public event, a question-and-answer session will follow Elwes' talk, then fans may join the book-signing line to meet the author. Included is a showing of the film "The Princess Bride."

The event begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at The Yellow Box auditorium at Community Christian Church, 1635 Emerson Lane, Naperville.

Tickets are required and available with the purchase of the book at Anderson's Bookshop, 123 W. Jefferson Ave., Naperville; by calling (630) 355-2665; or online at andersonsbookshop.com. Each ticket admits two people.

In the book, Elwes, who played the iconic role of Westley in "The Princess Bride," gives a first-person account and behind-the-scenes look at the making of the cult classic film. The book is filled with never-before-told stories, exclusive photographs, and interviews with co-stars Robin Wright, Wallace Shawn, Billy Crystal, Christopher Guest and Mandy Patinkin, as well as author and screenwriter William Goldman, producer Norman Lear, and director Rob Reiner.

"The Princess Bride" has been a family favorite for close to three decades. Ranked by the American Film Institute as one of the top 100 greatest love stories and by the Writers Guild of America as one of the top 100 screenplays of all time, "The Princess Bride" will continue to resonate with audiences for years to come.
