Mundelein Lights take hit high note at Invitational

Mundelein High School's all-female show choir Mundelein Lights took first place in the single gender category at the Crete-Monee Spectacular Show Choir Invitational Jan. 25 in Crete, Illinois.
The group also placed fifth in the overall day competition. In the evening performances of the top five overall finishers, Lights moved up to finish in third place following their 10 p.m. performance.
The tech crew for Sound, the mixed show choir, was named best stage crew of the day.
Sound, Lights and the all-male show choir SoundFX, along with the Noise Band and Silence Crew, will present their shows to the public in full costume at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 in the MHS Auditorium. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. John Neubauer and Cory Thompson direct the show choirs, while Andrew Sturgeon directs the Noise Band.
All groups will travel to Danville Feb. 7 for the Danville High School Invitational. The remainder of the competition tour will take them to Fort Atkinson on Feb. 14; Madison, Wisconsin, Feb. 21; and Fort Wayne, Indiana March 7.
