Woodland Middle School spelling bee champ:

Woodland Middle School in Gurnee will have the same representative in the next level of a spelling bee for the second consecutive year. Eighth-grader Saranya Menon won the recent middle school spelling bee. For the second year in a row, Saranya will represent Woodland Middle School at the sectional contest to be held Feb. 17 in her home building in Gurnee. Sixth-grader Athirai Ambikkumar finished second in the middle school bee.
