Jury convicts suburban Chicago woman in heroin death
ST. CHARLES, Ill. (AP) - A jury has convicted a suburban Chicago woman of supplying the heroin in the overdose death of a 24-year-old woman.
The Kane County state's attorney's office says a jury deliberated 40 minutes before convicting 25-year-old Andrea R. Nielsen of drug-induced homicide in the death of Abbey Nordmeyer on April 4, 2013. Both were South Elgin residents.
Nielsen faces a sentence of six to 30 years when Judge Susan Clancy Boles sentences her March 11.
Prosecutors say Nordmeyer contacted Nielsen to purchase heroin, and Nielsen and 22-year-old Nicholas C. Allen drove into Chicago to buy the drug, which all three ingested at Nordmeyer's home. Nielsen and Allen found Nordmeyer dead the next day.
Allen pleaded guilty in exchange for an eight-year sentence.
Nielsen's held in the Kane County jail.
