Russian football federation faces more debt worries

MOSCOW (AP) - With national team coach Fabio Capello already unpaid for seven months, the Russian Football Union faces new questions over its finances.

The new financial worries include $225,000 reportedly owed to FIFA's former chief referee Jose Maria Garcia-Aranda and a $340,000 lawsuit brought against the RFU by a travel agency which has worked with the national team.

Garcia-Aranda told Russian agency Tass on Wednesday he was owed money under a contract which expired in August, under which he advised RFU president Nikolai Tolstykh.

Garcia-Aranda did not say how much he was owed, but Russian media reported a debt of around 200,000 euros ($225,000).

Travel agency Academservice, which organizes away game trips for top Russian clubs, filed its lawsuit Tuesday, Russian media reported. The grounds for the suit were not made public.
